Choosing a helmet for kids

How to choose a children's hockey helmet - size, standards, cushioning and ventilation for safety and comfort. Head circumference measurement, cage and chin cup fit, tips and maintenance.
A kid-friendly helmet protects against shocks and stick or puck blows. Proper fitting – along with a full indoor cage – is a prerequisite for safe play.

  • measure the circumference of the head with a tape measure around the head about 6 mm above the eyebrows and at the level of the nape of the neck.

  • Compare to the model's size chart. If between sizes - you actually measure on your head and choose the one that sits close and comfortable.

  • Assemble with the cage and chin cup to make sure everything sits together correctly.
